The State Government has announced that $15 million will be allocated to the Southern Expressway in the 2018/19 State budget to help combat rock-throwing.

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government Stephan Knoll said the Marshall Liberal Government is investing in permanent infrastructure solutions to help prevent the idiotic behaviour of rock throwing along the Southern Expressway.

Included in the funding is permanent screens for 10 bridges along the expressway, upgrades to security cameras and improved fencing to limit access to rocks.

“SAPOL’s Operation Watercolour has also been very successful in helping to reduce the number of rock throwing incidents and I commend their great work.

“The safety of South Australians is the Marshall Government’s absolute priority and that’s why we’re investing in these long term solutions,” Mr Knoll said.
