Victor Harbor Hockey Club win three premierships in South Coast Hockey Association grand finals

Victor Harbor Hockey Club ended the season with three premierships, while Yankalilla claimed the under 13 premiership and Aldinga the B grade pennants. The under 16 game between Victor White and Victor Blue was a fast game. Victor White pressed through Ethan Johnson, Jadyn Eadie and Jesse Adams, however these early attacks were repelled by Blue’s defence in Muskan Kaur, Tom Roberts and Jasper Roberts.

Locky Threadgold was solid and worked well with White captain Tyler Walton. At half time the game was nil all, but White came out firing in the second half. Ethan Johnson scored the first goal for White and this was followed by another by Adin Harm.

Victor Blue had opportunities to score through Hassan Singh, Woods and Reece Miller, but Goalie Seth Pain was miserly. The final score was a 2 nil to Victor White. Best on ground was Jadyn Eadie.

In the Women’s A grade grand final it was a Victor derby – Victor White v Victor Blue. Victor Blue’s  Heather Cass and Nat Gibbs pressed forward with back up from Madi Richter and Querida Pearse. White’s strong defence in Bri Anna Wilsdon, Georgia Warner and Gemma Dally made every attempt at goal, but Blue shut  them down.

White’s Jamie Molesworth, Shirtiva Wells and Alana Bracken kept at Blue, but Alice Jagger and Sigourney Williams (fullbacks) were both having great games. Victor Blue scored the first goal from Lucinda Remilton. In the second half, White were awarded a penalty, but were unsuccessful with the attempt, which Di Welsh Kinnear, Blues goalie, stopped. With only minutes to go in the second half Victor White scored a goal through Molesworth to even the game. At full time the score was even to take the game into extra time. Blue’s  Williams grabbed her chance and slammed a goal and Blue held White out to win the game 2-1. Nat Gibbs was best on ground.

In A Grade Men Victor White took on Victor Grey. The Williams boys playing on opposite teams had many a great tussle. Ricky Martyn worked well with team mates Chucky, Harry and Eli Sorger for White.

Grey’s young players Chris and Locky were supported by Daniel and Jesse Threadgold. Half time was nil all. The second half saw Ricky Martyn score for White. Grey’s goalie Brandon Saunders had a cracker of a game. The final whistle saw Victor White win 1 nil. Best on ground was Brett Webster.
