Visitors to this year's Port Elliot Show which will be held on Saturday October 6 and Sunday October 7, will be in for a special treat with guest presenter 'Big Stan' Ceglinski appearing on stage in a marquee between the Michael Scott Pavillion and the main entertainment area at the show grounds on both days.
'Big Stan' is a big guy with a big heart and a passion for wood and really is the epitome of an old fashioned wood worker.
This rough and ready guy has been delighting audiences as a showman in the grandest sense for years as he can knock up a three legged stool, a cricket bat or even a musical instrument in just a short space of time.
He not only can make a rough and ready musical instrument out of junk timber in just a few minutes, which he will begin to play when completed, but he can also make the most beautiful stringed instruments out of incredibly diverse materials.
Stan will play musical sets on his hand-made guitars and if anyone in the audience can play he will encourage them to join in 'for a jam'.
Doug Collins, woodworking convener for the Port Elliot show said he was delighted to be able to have Stan entertain the visitors to the show this year.
“He has performed in other shows around the country and he will draw a huge crowd to the woodwork section,” Doug said.
This talented man works with many beautiful timbers including the very colourful Camphor Laurel, Australian red cedar, mango, silky oak to name but a few and he will have these and other specialty timbers for sale at the Show.
'Big Stan's' appearance at this year's Port Elliot Show represents an unique opportunity for all woodworkers, and it's a 'must see' at the show.
Entries are now open for all indoor exhibits including the woodwork section and the closing date is September 21.
Exhibitors are urged to get their entries in early even if they have not completed their submission, which must be finished and delivered to the Port Elliot Showgrounds on Friday, October 5.
