How does a club respond to being bottom of the ladder in three successive seasons. Make a grand final! And that is exactly what McLaren have done.

Their season, which many thought would burn out come finals, has gone to another level and they will now meet Langhorne Creek in this week’s Great Southern Football League grand final.

In the last fortnight McLaren have defeated league powerhouse Willunga and two time reigning premiers Mount Compass in nail biting thrillers.

The club has captured the imagination of everyone and could the fairy tale have that ‘happy ever after’ ending for McLaren?

The Hawks will have other ideas and coach Godwin will be plotting how to stop key forwards Mutton and Watchman and the run of Mathews, Vandeleur, Loots, Bollenhagen, Ellis, Gill, Chahla and Marr.

Sellar should be back for the Creek and McLeod, Derham, Nick Warren, Arbon and Clifford will continue with their solid finals form. The experience of Howell, Earl, Lally, Ben Warren and Perrey will be a big bonus for Langhorne Creek.

Kiss Of Death – Langhorne Creek by 7 points.

Myponga/Sellicks is also on a great run in the Reserves, but run into Willunga. The Demons are too even all over the ground.

KIss Of Death – Willunga by 15 points.

Encounter Bay were impressive in the senior colts preliminary final and may have required that run. An upset could occur.

Kiss Of Death – Encounter Bay by 1 point.

In the junior colts Willunga have been the team to beat all season and should account for Encounter Bay.

Kiss Of Death – Willunga by 20 points.
