On Sunday, October 21 the Granite Community Band will welcome the Onkaparinga City Concert Band to Victor Harbor for a special concert.

The Onkaparinga City Concert Band boasts a 42-year history of serving the southern community and share similar values to the Granite Community Band of inclusivity, community and a love of music. They recently won first place in the open B Grade Concert section of the State Band Championships.

Granite Community Band will open the concert, followed by the Onkaparinga City Concert Band, and the bands combine to bring a finale of three pieces.

“It is again a pleasure to welcome a visiting band from Adelaide. It provides both bands the opportunity to interact and play together plus gives our local community the opportunity to come and listen to some top-class musicians without the need to travel to Adelaide,” Granite Band president Bill Lowe said.

The concert will be at the Lutheran Church Centre, Adelaide Road Victor Harbor. Doors open 2pm for a 2.30pm start. All tickets are $10 from RAA Victor Harbor or at the door.

CentreStage gets spooky

The Victor Harbor Town Hall was once again witness to a cabaret-style amateur vocal performance on Sunday, September 9, hosted by CentreStage. The audience of almost 160 was wowed by renditions of hits from Broadway Musicals such as The Rocky Horror Show, School of Rock, Heathers and Spring Awakening.

CentreStage – Broadway is a musical theatre vocal performance night where performers showcase their talent by singing a piece from the musical theatre genre. Performers are backed by an inhouse 3-piece band.

The next CentreStage event is on Sunday, October 14. The theme is Spooky Night.

Expect to hear hits from Musicals such as Wicked, Little Shop of Horrors, Little Mermaid and Into The Woods. Best-dressed competition included. Doors open at 6.30 for 7.00 pm start.
