Willunga v Mount Compass
Willunga won the toss and elected to bowl in a bid to claim early Mt Compass wickets.
Willunga opening bowlers Hockham and McIvor started brilliantly, mounting early pressure with several consecutive maidens. McIvor was first to strike when he got the wickets of Bartsch.
From there the wickets fell at regular intervals. Great bowling followed and by the support of the field helped Willunga dismiss Mt Compass for 30 after 28.2 overs.
McIvor the pick of the bowlers taking 6/11 off his 12 overs. Chasing the total of 30, Willunga went about it in easy fashion. Harding scored freely throughout his innings, accumulating eight boundaries amongst his 60 runs.
At 4/132, Willunga declared 102 runs in front, claiming first innings points. Mt Compass had a further 20 overs to see out the close of play. The second innings would be much more kind to the Mt Compass men as they negated a difficult period of bowling from the Willunga attack.
At the close of a very eventful day, Mt Compass ended on 2/44, needing a further 58 runs to make Willunga bat again on day two.
Noarlunga v Port Elliot
Noarlunga won the toss and elected to bat. Port Elliot's bowlers kept scoring down for the first few overs, but failed to make a break through and Noarlunga's opening batsmen, Sam Carlyle and AJ Burgess, soon picked up the scoring.
They went through to the first drinks break with the score on 79 off 18 overs. After the break, scoring was kept slow for a few overs, until Carlyle and Burgess got their eye back in. They then picked up the rate quickly until Burgess fell to Port Elliot bowler Gordge.
Burgess hit 14 runs off his third over before falling on the second to last ball of that over chasing more runs.
Burgess was out on 90 in the 32nd over with the score at 162. However, Sam Carlyle kept the scoring rate up and Noarlunga went to the tea break with the score at 1/186.
Jason Scarff fell cheaply soon after the break to bowler Mason and David Scarff joined Carlyle to see Noarlunga's innings out when they declared in the 50th over with the score at 2/267. D Scarff finished on 19 and Carlyle batted through the innings to finish with 137.
Noarlunga had 20 overs to bowl and didn't waste time taking wickets, with Matthew Ray taking two wickets with his first two balls in the second over. This put the pressure on Port Elliot and Noarlunga's bowlers capitalised, taking another three wickets before the end of the day, leaving Port Elliot on 5/32.
