99 years in the best town there is

Irma Springbett says family and the community of Victor Harbor have kept her active and engaged, and were key to her good health as she celebrated her 99th birthday at the weekend.

Irma, who celebrated her November 4 birthday early with a dinner at the Victor Harbor Golf Club last Friday, says she’s looking forward to reaching the milestone of 100, because it means another year enjoying her favorite place in the world and home for her entire life.

Irma, a Hurrell who grew up on the banks of the Inman River in Victor, was married twice, has three children, 11 grand children and 23 great-grand children. Most of them were on hand at the golf club to celebrate her birthday.

A well-known local historian, Irma has contributed to many community organisations during her life and says staying connected with the town through these groups and surrounded by friends made Victor Harbor even more special to her.
