The Victor Harbor ANZ  branch has started its Xmas Appeal and the box is ready to be filled many times over to benefit those who are disadvantaged this Christmas. It is the 14th year the branch and the Salvation Army have joined forces to help those in need at Christmas time. Donations of unwrapped gifts, wrapping paper, non-perishable food and gift vouchers will assist the Salvation Army this Christmas.

Naomi McElwaine of the ANZ Victor Harbor branch has co-ordinated the past 14 Christmas appeals and said all donations go to families throughout the Fleurieu Peninsula.

“It is the community helping the community,” Naomi said.

“The box in the branch is checked daily by the Salvation Army, who pick up the donations and they get prepared for distribution on December 21.”

Salvation Army Major Elaine Trendell said 98 families benefited from the Christmas Appeal last year.

“Although the box is located in the ANZ branch in Victor Harbor, we distribute the donations to Sellicks Beach, Clayton Bay and right throughout the Fleurieu,” Major Trendell said.

“The need is getting greater, so all donations would be greatly accepted. This community is a very giving one to those who need help.”
