About 500 people flocked to the Goolwa wharf precinct as the seventh Aussie Muscle Car Run stopped for a show and shine on the first day of the journey.
The Aussie Muscle Car Run was founded by Hindmarsh Island man Kevin May and raises money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
There were 59 cars driven by teams of two in this year’s event, and they collected a record-breaking amount $531,000 – the largest amount raised for one year’s event. It brings the total tally to nearly $3 million raised in seven years.
Cars and teams came mostly from South Australia, although there were teams from Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria.
The trip left Adelaide on October 27, where it travelled through the Fleurieu Peninsula including McLaren Vale, Second Valley, Victor Harbor and Goolwa, and it finished on November 2.
Australian actor Shane Jacobson was part of the run, and he took photos with locals and visitors at the show and shine.
