Encounter Bay woman Connie Roberts enjoyed having five generations of her family together for her 99th birthday on Sunday, November 25.
Her son Barry Roberts, granddaughter Vicki Hartleib, great-grandson Kiall Beasley and great-great-grandson William Beasley were all present for a celebration at the Hotel Victor.
Connie was born at her parents’ home in Dulwich on November 25, 1919. She was the second-youngest of eight children.
She married Lesley Roberts at the Church of Christ in Dulwich on November 30, 1940. They met at Mount Bold, when she was up visiting one of her brothers who lived there at the time.
In the courting stages, Lesley would ride his bike from Mount Bold to Adelaide to see Connie.
They moved to Whyalla before moving back to Adelaide two-and-a-half years later.
Together they had two boys and a girl, and she now has six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
The couple enjoyed living there until Lesley passed away and Connie moved to Victor Harbor to live with her daughter Shirley.
Last year Connie moved into retirement home Estia Encounter Bay.
She still enjoys knitting; she creates countless squares which are made into blankets and sent to disadvantaged people overseas. She also loves crosswords and playing crib.
