Small Business Commissioner John Chapman made his way to Victor Harbor on Monday to attend Business Victor Harbor’s (BVH) monthly meeting.
Mr Chapman said he was invited by BVH chairperson Nick Gormley to attend the event, where he outlined the work of his office and had the opportunity to engage with local small business owners.
“One of the issues that was raised was the redevelopment of the main street and how to minimise the impacts of those businesses nearby,” Mr Chapman said.
“I know council have been working with them closely during this time and doing a great job.”
Mr Gormley said the networking event was a great opportunity for local businesses to hear first hand what Mr Champan’s role entails and how his office advocates for their rights.
“The role of the commissioner is to advocate fr small businesses and mediate on their behalf,” Mr Gormley said.
“Not all businesses know where they can go for advocacy and the office of the Commissioner for Small Business is that place.”
