Local author and Public Policy Influencer Mark J. Smith credits the local environment across the Fleurieu Peninsula in putting him in a great mindset to write his latest book. Smith said he was inspired to write by the spectacular local landscape.
“I particularly enjoy the beaches from Lady Bay to Carrickalinga. Walking along the sand clears the mind,” he said.
“It is just so peaceful and beautiful. Deep Creek National Park is one of our best kept secrets. The views across to Kangaroo Island are without peer. There are so many great nature walks and Blowhole Beach is probably the highlight.
“There are so many little opportunities like this to escape from the fast-paced technology dependent world we live in.”
A Normanville local, Smith who has worked in government and public policy advocacy for over a decade said that his new book Australian Revolution is the book major political parties don’t want you to read, arriving at a time when Australian politics is broken.
“For too long Australians have been seriously let down by their political leaders. Every part of our lives is suffering from disruption. It is time that government in Australia was subject to major disruption.
“I wanted to create an original story around the possibility of abolishing state governments. A believable story may encourage political leaders and Australians to at least contemplate what life could be like without state government,” he said.
