The ASICS Victor Triathlons will be held for the 25th time on Sunday, March 10 and entries are flowing in.
Race director Sid James said he was proud of the event and cannot believe he has held the event 25 times and wants participants and those intending to take part to get their entries in.
“It has been an amazing journey and I hope this event will continue for as long as I am able to contribute like I can,” Sid said.
“Over the years we have attracted elite athletes, novices and families with young children to take part and now is the time to enter.
“This is a milestone the whole community can be proud of, along with the residents of Encounter Lakes and the City of Victor Harbor.
“I thank them very much, as without their support, I could not have run the event 25 times.”
Sid and Ironman Kevin Fergusson will participate in the main triathlon, where Kevin will tow Sid, who is a quadriplegic, on the 10 kilometre run, 40 kilometre bike ride and 1500 metre swim.
“Kevin is amazing and I thank him for helping me to live out a dream to compete in triathlon events and it is extra special to be involved in my own event,” Sid said.
“We are expecting 800 participants this year and I am thrilled to see the respect this event is held nation-wide.”
The event has become iconic to Victor Harbor. Entries are available at www.vht.org.au or hard copy will be available on Saturday afternoon March 9.
