Lift the Lid on Mental Illness bike ride initiated by the Rotary Club of Victor Harbor, has raised nearly $40,000.

Twenty riders with 12 support crew will take part from March 28 to April 4 and will ride from Victor Harbor to Broken Hill, raising funds for Mental Health Research.

They will cover a distance of 636 kilometres, averaging 90 kilometres per day. Titled 'Ocean to Outback', the Rotary Club members are excited at the task in front of them and passionate for the cause they are raising funds for.

Rotary Club of Victor Harbor president Mark Cox said there was great support from the community and that all funds raised will go Australian Rotary Health and every dollar goes direct to Mental Health Research.

"The ride has more significance now that our drought affected rural friends and families are struggling through such a difficult time. It is not only farmers who need help, but communities," Mr Cox said.

The riders will leave Victor Harbor by the Causeway on Thursday, March 28 and will not only raise valuable funds for mental health, but raise awareness on the issue.
