Coles will create 58 new local jobs in Victor Harbor and the surrounding region when it opens its new store next Wednesday, following a multi-million dollar investment and construction of a new state-of-the-art store on Adelaide Road, McCracken.
The huge, new market-style supermarket also welcomes team members who are transferring from other Coles stores in the area, including Meat Manager Julie Crump who has 35 years’ service with Coles.
Store Manager Rob Kidman said he is looking forward to officially opening the doors and sharing the new store features with the community.
“We know that the community wants to support local SA businesses, and we are proud to work with some great SA suppliers including MOJO Kombucha which is based in McLaren Vale,” he said.
“We’re supporting the ‘I Choose SA’ campaign and are excited to offer the Tastes of South Australia including new Coles FruChocs Chocolate Hot Cross Buns, fresh baked in-store.”
The store features an in-store bakery with freshly-baked bread and Laurent varieties, a continental delicatessen with a large range of cheeses, an in-store butcher offering a slice on request service and an expanded fresh produce area.
Mr Kidman said the team is also passionate about giving back to the local community and is proud to host a new community BBQ available for local groups to use for fundraising.
“We’re thrilled to sponsor the Victor Harbor Lions and Victor Harbor Rotary clubs as well as working with the Indigneous youth group at Victor Harbor High School,” he said.
The store will also support large parking bays with significant shade sale cover, as well as limited electric charging bays for shoppers.
Coles Online will be available with Click&Collect allowing locals to order their groceries online and have them delivered to their car boot.
Coles have also partnered with SecondBite to redistribute surplus fresh produce, bread and grocery items to the disadvantaged, with food donations going to community groups in the area.
An opening celebration to welcome customers to the new store will be held from 9am on Wednesday 20 March with speeches, cake and a ribbon cutting.
