The Rotary Club of Encounter Bay is investing in the youth in the region by sponsoring a new service club for youth in the region.
The Interact Club of Southern Fleurieu (club No 218900 ) became a reality, when president Penny Foster was presented with and accepted their Certificate of Organisation by Rotary District Governor Kim Harvey at a luncheon at the Flexible Learning Options centre.
Interact is Rotary International's service club for young people aged 12 to 18. The new club will be self-governing and self supporting, but will receive assistance and advice from the sponsor club – the Rotary Club of Encounter Bay.
Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill.
Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of developing leadership skills and personal integrity as they work in a community, while advancing international understanding and goodwill.
Interact is one of the most significant and fastest-growing programs of Rotary service, with more than 10,700 clubs in 109 countries and geographical areas.
Interact has become a worldwide phenomenon with almost 200,000 young people involved.
