The Great Southern 2019 Football League season starts on Saturday and there are five blockbuster games.

Yankalilla will host Myponga/Sellicks and the Tigers have picked up some quality footballers so they can begin their journey up the ladder.

Luke Durdin will hold the defence together for the Tigers and this will allow coach Joel Kay to provide his customary run from the back and set up many forward opportunities. Xavier Gotch will be one of the recruits of the season and will win more than his share of the footy.

For the Mudlarks, Simon Phillips will be a key play maker and his pace will worry the Tigers. Tyler Harmon will be another who will win his share of clearances and these two combining with the brilliance of Tom Carroll, will be a force.

Kiss of Death - Yankalilla by 10 points.

Victor Harbor host Strathalbyn and the Roos will open their new club rooms for season 2019. Victor Harbor have the forward power of Ryan Fletcher, Clint Alleway and Sam Basham and of course the great skills of Mail Medallist Michael Ross.

The big problem for the Roos, is who will mind the strong marking Ben Simounds and the silky skills of Marc Elliott? Jack Lang will get one and Aydan Bartlett the other. Both teams have missed out on finals the past two seasons and will want to get back among the action.

Kiss of Death - Victor Harbor by 7 points.

Langhorne Creek play Encounter Bay and the Hawks as the reigning premiers can be slow starters. The possibility of Cobie Helyar suiting up is a big boost for the Hawks. Howell, Haylock, Kellock and Sellar are the leaders at the Creek, but the Bays have Barrett and Baldock in their stable to support Davis-Neale and Callum Tonkin.

Kiss of Death - Encounter Bay by 2 points.

Willunga take on Mount Compass and it will be Hunt and Bass double teaming Hoban. Hunter is back in a Dog's jumper and his lace out deliveries will be appreciated by Pinyon. The Demons are a quick side with Beath, Hutchens, Boyd, Burdett and Haskett and inclusions Scanlon, Dawson and Meigel  consistent ball winners. Ruddock, Heatley, and Copestick will also give the Dogs more bite.

Kiss of Death - Willunga by 1 point.

Goolwa/Port Elliot take on McLaren and the Magpies had a year of pain in 2018 and it will not happen twice. Helbig, Weise, Sutter, Stoldt and Marsh have bolstered the playing list and of course the return of the favourite son, Ryan Griffen, will add a lot of excitement into the GSFL.

McLaren was the surprise packet of 2018, making the grand final, but the surprise is over and the Magpies await. Watchman and Mutton are guns up front and the inclusion of Ellison, Gregory and Wakefield helps the side so much.

Kiss of Death - McLaren by 4 points.
