Port Elliot Surf Life Savers competed at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships

The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships is an annual event where members from Australia's 314 Surf Life Saving Clubs come together to compete in more than 400 beach and ocean events.

It is the largest event of its kind and was held at North Burleigh on the Gold Coast in April.

Local youth surf lifesavers, Piper Hudson, Skye Jucius and Georgina Tenny, representing the Port Elliot Surf Life Saving Club, competed in the youth events at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.

The girls formed a successful board relay team on the Sunday and navigated the swell well.

Life Saver

They participated in many individual events over both days. Georgina was strong in the Ironperson and swim in huge surf on the first day.

Piper competed well in the two kilometre run and flags and Skye was successful in the sprints and flags. Georgina and Piper also combined for the board rescue event to complete their events over the championships.

The girls had a great time and did their club proud amongst elite competition in a beautiful part of the world.

The Port Elliot Surf Life Saving Club prides itself on its junior development with a strong Nippers program.
