Bowls continues on the south coast

Myponga Bowls - The Myponga Bowling Club hosted Open Fours this month. and the winners were the team from Victor Harbor, consisting of Brendan Hehir, Ian Sellars, John Manifold  and Peter Wass.

The team of Bill Hughes, Mary Baum, Liz Dempster and Graeme Baum won the best humorously named team - The Bowled & Beautiful. 

The day was a major success and a sellout, every rink was full with 24 teams competing. Acting tournament director Robert Cawood was overwhelmed by the number of compliments on how the day was organised and managed.

Encounter Bay Bowls - Social Bowls winners were Andy Seymour, Phil Cochrane and Marg Mayfield, 2nd were Barry Hamilton, Peter Maunder and Mary Jarvis.

Saturday Social Bowls winners were Des Parsons, Ian Warner and Don Best, runner up Chris Price, Roger Hutchinson and David Bell.

Coming events are April 30 - Tuesday Open Pairs commence. Entry can be single entry or make up a pair and enter as a team and the AGM will be held on Monday, April 29 at 6.30pm at the club rooms. 

There will be Social Bowls on Easter Saturday.

Port Elliot Bowls - Forty participants enjoyed social bowls game as a preliminary to the commencement of Winter Bowls. This first week, was played as drawn pairs 2-4-2.  Winning teams were Brigitte Day and Reynella's Brian Wright  and runner up Elmore Schumacher and A.Coyles Reynella. Volunteers to co-ordinate Winter Bowls games are urgently required. Please contact a Board member.

On Sunday, the club played host to Reynella Bowling Club members. There were 48 participants. Port Elliot had a convincing win, (204 vs 149 shots).

The 2018-19 Presentation Ceremony and AGM was held on April 10. Ladies 100 up Winner was Sandra Monk, Ladies Singles: Winner: Helen Taylor, Ladies Pairs: Winners: Margaret Malone/Jan Lind, Ladies Triples Winners: Margaret Malone, Jan Lind, Anthea Faull, Ladies 4's Winners: Helen Taylor, Libby Henschke, Eileen Love, Lyn Mole. Mixed Pairs: Winners: Sandra and Chris Monk, Men's Singles: Winner: Ian McLeod, Men's Pairs: Winners: John Deal and Terry Hogg, Men's 4's: Winners: Wayne Reynolds, Phil Hollow, Jim Gamble, Chris Monk.

Peter Barclay, Margaret Malone and Gerry Malone were the top scorers  in the Port Elliot Bowling Club v Reynella  Interclub Challenge with Port Elliot Bowling Club president Maryanne McGill and Reynella’s Gary Ellard.

The AGM followed with 68 participants. The Board is President Maryanne McGill, Men's VP Don Gifford,  Ladies VP Libby Henschike, Treasurer, Phil Beckett, Secretary Kaye Cammack. Committee: Dorothy Price, Elmar Schumacher, Peter Barclay, Lynn Wenman. Fees for the coming season will be $185.
