Strong wins on the board in round five

Round five of the GSFLW season has included some of the biggest wins of 2019, with the largest margin being 50 points when Mount Compass defeated Encounter Bay.

In the morning game at Goolwa, Kiahni Russell kicked four goals for the Bulldogs while Jaimi Griffen stepped up for the Bays and slotted three herself.

The final score was 4.0 (24) to 11.8 (74), and best on ground was Meg Earl for Encounter Bay and Emma Galbraith for Mount Compass.

In the afternoon game, McLaren took the win over Goolwa/Port Elliot, 1.0 (6) to 6.7 (43).

Michaela Hoppen scored the Magpies' only goal, and five McLaren players shared the goalkicking, with Alexandra Bentley playing another strong game.

Over at Willunga, Strathalbyn and Yankalilla went head-to-head and the Roosters came out on top, 5.3 (33) to 1.5 (11).

Strath's Indigo Miller put on a stellar display up forward, kicking four of her team's five goals, and Kathryn Dodgson was the Tigers' sole goal kicker.

Willunga enjoyed another win on the trot, beating Victor Harbor in the afternoon game, 5.7 (37) to 2.1 (13).

Stellar Remphrey-Pese and Jemma Addicoat both kicked two goals for the Demons, while Emma Browne was the strongest performer for Victor Harbor.
