Great pressure shown by both sides from the first bounce in the match between Yankalilla and Goolwa/Port Elliot (GPE), but it was Stoldt for GPE, who scored the only goal for the quarter. It was 1-1 to five points at the first change.

The Tigers could not find the goals and at one stage in the second term had nine straight points on the board and no goals. It was late into the second before Laba scored the Tigers' first major.

But against the run of play, Marsh put GPE back in front. Tigers settled with a goal through Mellow, who went on to be among the Tigers best for the day.

The pressure of GPE was causing Yankalilla into making mistakes and at halftime it was Yankalilla 3-9 to GPE 2-5.

The Tigers Broke the shackle in the third term and the Magpies fell asleep. Fitzgerald goaled early, and two goals to Fisher opened the gap.

Fitzgerald was slowly becoming a handful, as he goaled again and the gap between the two teams was gaining separation.

It was a seven goal to two quarter at three quarter time Yank were up by 42 points. Durdin and Kay were brilliant in defence for the Tigers.

To the credit of the Magpies they out scored the Tigers in the last quarter to eventually go down by 30 points.

Final score was Yankalilla 12-14 to GPE 8-8. Mellow, Lee, Gotch, McConnell, Edwards and Durdin were best for the Tigers and Marsh with five goals had a good day with Cinc, Stoldt and Daniel Fry for the Magpies.
