Only 1 day of social bowls last week because of the rain, but no one was complaining as the rain was well needed. Saturday was cold but fine and the winners were Brian Chigwidden, Colin Sweeney and Les Gilbert with 32 plus 10. Runners up were Dave Roberts, Bev Newman and Liz Warner on 32 plus 8. Third was the team of Randall Rabone, Roger Watt and Dion Millard with 31 plus 6. There will be no Social bowls next Saturday, May 18 as Encounter Bay has the Regional Championships at our Club. Goolwa Bowling Club
Winter Social Bowls are now under way on the two new greens, and anyone looking for game are most welcome to join Goolwa members. Tuesdays is a very popular Pie Floater day, open pairs competition, commencing at 10am, generally people need to nominate as a pair, but most times it is possible to find a partner for single entries. Wednesdays is also open pairs, but commencement is at 12.00 noon, same system applies as for Tuesday. Saturdays is open Single Entry Drawn Triples competition commencing at 12 noon, two games of 13 ends, 3 bowls first game and 2 bowls second game. Results of Saturday 11/05 Open Drawn Triples. Winners with a score of 57 points were D.Edwards, S.Rolfe and D.Krebbekx from B.Weir, L.Dimitri and A.Phillips with 55 points. Winners of the second game were B.Hanshere, J.Williams and Mal Sekulitch with a score of 30 points. We had visiting players from Milang, Victor Harbor, Strathalbyn and Hawthorne taking part with Goolwa members.

Monday Pairs: First game winners were John Harrigan/John Macnamarra; 31+22; 2nd game winners Bob Vowels/Fred Kelly 32+10. Overall winners Ken Weeks/Ian Herron 58+9 Wednesday's game was Scroungers. Top scorer this week was Brigitte Day (51 shots) also winning the money but also earning a 4 week handicap of 6 shots. R/up Joylene Liebelt (46) A special mention of Pearl York who actually scored 47 but carried a handicap of 6 bringing her score back to 41. Pearl's drawing is superb and she is not easily beaten. Expect to see her in the winning circle often. Phil Beckett scored an honorable mention. This week Saturday Bowls game was 3 bowl triples and a calm, mild days brought out 30 players to enjoy the game. 1st game winners Michael Wenman, David Cammack, Wayne Reynolds (32+19), 2nd game winners Dennis Wright's team, Overall winners were Jim Gamble, Lyn and Ray Mole (29+13).
