Big win for Yank, other games close

Round eight of the GSFLW competition saw second-highest win margin of the season.

Yankalilla defeated Encounter Bay in the morning game at McLaren Vale, 11.12 (78) to 0.0 (0).

Helen Maidment piled on four goals and Nari Wright played an incredible game in her side's win, and the mother-daughter duo of Cathy and Jaimi Griffen were the best for the Bays.

In the afternoon game, McLaren's Tahlita Buethke kicked two goals in her team's win over Victor Harbor, 5.6 (36) to 2.1 (13).

Katrina Munzberg was best on ground for McLaren and Courtney Barry starred again for the Roos, kicking one of their two goals.

Down the road at Willunga, Strathalbyn faced Mount Compass in a tough match but came out on top, 1.6 (12) to 1.1 (7).

Morgan Tucker kicked Strath's only major, while Kelly Haverty was Mount Compass' sole goalkicker. Abbie Ballard was welcomed back into Strath's fold and was best on ground.

In the afternoon match, Goolwa/Port Elliot travelled to take on the home side but lost, 4.8 (32) to 2.3 (15).

Gemma Wilton kicked both of the Magpies' goals and Megan Hoad was best, and Willunga's Amy Hoffmann tore up the ground in her strong display while Kristen Rothwell kicked two goals.
