Former managing director of Greenhills Adventure Park, Megan Whibley, has been appointed as the Victor Harbor Horse Tram Authority's General Manager.
Megan was selected through a competitive selection process from a strong field of candidates. Her extensive experience in the tourism and service industry, along with her local knowledge and experience with horses, led her to being named the successful candidate.
In addition to 13 years' experience managing the popular Greenhills Adventure Park, Megan has been working for the YMCA as the operations manager at the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre and Strathalbyn Community Pool.
Chair of the Victor Harbor Horse Tram Authority Paul Brown said that Megan is an outstanding addition to the Horse Tram team.
"The Board is delighted Megan Whibley is joining the Victor Harbor Horse Tram. Her leadership experience within the local tourism sector will be highly valuable to the operation of the iconic attraction," Mr Brown said.
"The key appointment marks the final step in the Horse Tram's transition to the new management model.
"With a new board of management in place and recruitment of the General Manager finalised, we can get to work on securing a bright future for the Horse Drawn Tram service."
Ms Whibley said she was excited to be appointed to the role.
"Our first priority is to see the tram back in operation following the expected completion of repairs to the Causeway in June. I am thrilled with the appointment and can't wait to get to work.
"I am looking forward to working together with the Authority's Board, Horse Tram staff and the City of Victor Harbor to enhance the Horse Tram operation," Ms Whibley said. Ms Whibley will commence as General Manager on June 4.
