A community forum held on Thursday, May 16 gave people the chance to hear about what local police have been focused on recently.

Hills Fleurieu LSA police thanked the crowd of about 35 people who attended the Police and Community Engagement (PACE) forum at the City of Victor Harbor's council chambers.

Issues such as regional crime trends and proactive strategies targeting persons of interest and known crime hot spots were covered by Hills Fleurieu LSA operations manager Inspector Gus Sickerdick.

A Highway Patrols member also spoke about road safety, and a member of the Crime Prevention Section discussed tips for preventing crime at home.

"Personal engagement with the community is an important way for South Australia Police to learn about residents' safety concerns, and the priorities of the local community," a SA Police spokesperson said.

Police thanked City of Victor Harbor mayor Moira Jenkins and Member for Finniss David Basham, who attended and supported the forum.

Another PACE forum will be held in the Hills Fleurieu LSA soon, and details will be announced in the near future.
