Investigator College at Victor Harbor hosted the Guitarissimo Concert on Sunday, June 2.

The concert featured performances by ensembles from the Elder Conservatorium, Opal Guitar Quartet, and the South Coast Guitar Ensemble, and was compered by University of Adelaide guitar artistic director Dr Oliver Fartach-Naini and local guitar teacher Anne Todd.

South Coast Guitar Ensemble played Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Avicii's Hey Brother. Students from Strathalbyn, Mount Barker, Goolwa, Port Elliot and Victor Harbor played with the youngest being six years old.

Students from the Conservatorium played a program of solos, local students Josh Dunkley and his brother Willem played solo pieces, and Opal Guitar Quartet performed Richard Charlton's From Stoneworks.

The South Coast Guitar Ensemble and the Conservatorium students joined to perform Blue Moon and an Argentinian Tango From the Andes, with all 28 participants combining for La Cumparsita by Rodriguez. The program ended with 13 guitars playing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and traditional song Pick a Bale of Cotton. It was a thrill for the local ensemble to perform with such high quality guitarists as the Conservatorium students.
