A draw between Saints and Lakers in Men's division 1 was the big talking point in Great Southern basketball.
Saints 50 drew with Lakers 50. Lakers had the better start and led 13 point 6 at quarter time. At half time Lakers still led 29 -25 and led by the same amount at three quarter time. The last quarter was an intense affair and the game finished with both sides posting half centuries.
Saints' Sam Basham in a dominant display scored a game-high 23 points. Ben Basham played well and hit 16 points. Lakers Dylan Mason worked hard and was rewarded with a top score of 15 points. Kane Cooper is starting to find his groove at this level and scored 14 points.
In the other Men's game Pistons 51 defeated Celtics 39.
Pistons were on song early and had a good lead at the first change with the scores at 22 points to 7. Celtics won the second term, but trailed 31 to 22 at half-time. Pistons lifted in the third and at the last break, led 43 - 27. Pistons held Celtics at bay in the last and ran out solid 12-point winners and moved to top spot on the ladder.
Pistons' Matthew Bennett was back to his more consistent form and posted a game-high 16 points. Kasper Muirhead played with good intensity and posted 15 points. Marc Mullette used the ball effectively and posted 14 points.
Reigning premier Celtics were best served by guards Matt Stock and Scott Cannin with 14 points.
In Women's division 1 Magic 39 defeated Pistons 20. In a hard fought and low scoring contest Magic continued on its winning way and remain undefeated. Magic's Madi Round and Alice Smart played their differing roles well and both top scored with 11 points.
Pistons' Nari Thompson return to the side had a good impact and she top scored with 5 points. Young players Abbi Harris and Shanice O'Donaghue both contributed 4 points.
Lakers 50 defeated Saints 49. Saints played well early and led 16 -6 at the first break. The momentum changed in the second as Lakers lifted its work-rate, but Saints led 27-25 at half-time. Saints then gained the ascendancy in the third and led 38-29 at the change. In a spirited performance Lakers finished over the top and recorded a good victory by a point.
Lakers' Tayla Bohnsack had a 26-point haul and Rachel Zimmermann posted 11 points. For Saints, Jordan Minenko posted a top score of 14 points. Meg Earl played a good match scoring 14 points.
