Under 15 JSL Breakers were up against South Adelaide on the weekend.

This match was an important game for the Breakers, the last match before the league splits into Division 1 and Division 2. A win would put the Breakers top of the ladder in Division 2.

From the start both teams struggled to keep control of the ball in the slippery conditions. The Breakers were giving South no time and space on the ball but were clumsy, giving away lots of free kicks.

There was no score until the half hour mark when Peters ran into the box with the ball and the South defender slipped and accidentally hand balled it and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.

Captain Hird stepped up to take the spot kick and made no mistake, the South keeper guessed the right way, but was beaten by sheer power. South had a few good chances before the break but could not capitalise.

In the second half the Breakers tried to hold on to their slender lead, but South were pressing hard and finally got a deserved equaliser.

It was a well taken free kick which the Breakers defence did not deal with and the South striker pounced to score the goal.

The time was running out and the match looked destined for a draw when the Breakers won a corner kick and South failed to clear with McDonald passing the ball to Beaton who cleverly chipped it to the back post where the unmarked Hird buried the header to give his team the 2-1 lead.

In the dying minutes Loizi showed his sublime pace to get in behind the South defence to score a cracking goal to seal the match 3-1. The boys now have a two week break before the Div 2 fixtures get underway.
