Every year Alexandrina Council makes funds available under its Community Grants Program for local not-for-profit community, sporting, recreational, environmental and arts groups (and individuals), in the support of one-off projects.
These grants aim to encourage groups to take more action and have a visible role in the community, creating opportunities for wide ranging community participation. A spokesperson for the council said they recognise "the role of community groups and organisations, and endeavor to financially support a range of projects and activities that are seen to enhance the quality of life, delivery of services and provision of facilities to the community."
Applications for the 2019-20 Community Grants Program can be made online from Monday July 15, in a huge range of categories which include Community Development and Environment, Connecting Communities through the Arts, Festivals and Events, Rural Initiatives, Local Heritage Incentive, Community Halls Capital, Small Recreation and Sport and Recreational Capital.
Information and guidelines for each grant category, Council's Community Grants Policy and a link to the application forms will be available at: alexandrina.sa.gov.au/grants
All grant categories will have up to a maximum of $3,000 available per application. Total funding available in Council's 2019-2020 Community Grants Program is $70,000. Applications close 5pm Friday August 9.
