The City of Victor Harbor has paved the way for the Mud n Tars Motorcycle Club to host another twilight racing event at its club headquarters at Day Road, Victor Harbor.
The club will hold the South Australian Dirt Track Championship as a twilight event on Saturday, October 12, between 3pm and 10pm.
A provision by council was for the motorcycle club to advertise the event in The Times over several weeks and the club to conduct a letter drop to the neighboring properties, notifying of the event.
It will be the Mud n Tars Motor Cycle Club's second twilight race meeting.
The club has successfully held this event for many years during day light hours, but changed to a twilight race on a Saturday night for the first time in 2018.
The Mud n Tars Motorcycle have operated at the Day Road site since 1986 and currently holds a five year lease with council, which is due to expire in 2021.
The club is permitted six race dates each year under the licence, but wished one of the races to be converted to a twilight event, instead of the usual time on a Sunday between the hours of 9am to 5pm.
The club requested and were granted a change in time for one of their scheduled racing events.
This date is during day light savings and the end of school holidays.
The proposed race meeting will consist of four rounds of racing and one practice round with each round taking approximately 60 minutes.
The maximum size of engines is 450cc and there will be a break for dinner due to safety concerns with the sun impairing vision.
Extra lighting will be required for the event.
The South Australian Dirt Track Championship attracts around 20 interstate, 50 Adelaide based and 50 local riders and families. The 2018 event attracted more than 600 spectators.
The club has held the South Australian Dirt Track Championship for many years therefore, an increase in traffic will be expected in the area similar to previous years.
