Councillor Marilyn Henderson has been an elected member of the City of Victor Harbor since the November elections in 2018 and her passion for the environment has been rewarded with a nomination on the Native Vegetation Council. The Minister for Environment and Water wrote to the Local Government (LGA) requesting nominations for to be on the Native Vegetation Council. The LGA can nominate three people to the Minister for selection as a member of the Native Vegetation Council.
Members wanting to nominate for the position, must have some knowledge of and experience in the preservation and management of native vegetation.
The City of Victor Harbor has nominated Cr Henderson.
The successful candidate will be appointed for a period of two years, commencing on September 13 and will receive a sitting fee of $206 per four hour meeting, for which the member attends.
The Native Vegetation Council generally meet every two months at the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources.
