The City of Victor Harbor has chosen councillor Nick Hayles for the casual vacancy on the South Australian Coastal Councils Alliance, Executive Committee for the Southern Coastal Zone.

South Australian Coastal Councils Alliance seeks the state's councils ongoing engagement to achieve the establishment of governance and resourcing arrangements for a South Australian Coastal Councils Alliance that supports an informed, co-ordinated advocacy voice and prepare a Coastal Councils advocacy document.

The document will include a list of current and emerging coastal management works and costings, options for more sustainable funding and cost-sharing arrangements.

The Southern Zone consists of Grant, Wattle Range, Robe, Kingston, Coorong, Alexandrina, Victor Harbor, Kangaroo Island and Yankalilla councils. Meetings are held in Adelaide on a needs basis, or via conference call. Cr Hayles is also a state representative on the Australian Coastal Council Association.
