Encounter Bay ran out 33 point winners over Myponga-Sellicks who are still searching for an elusive win in 2019. It was a close contest early, fought in average conditions, with not much separating the two teams. Myponga-Sellicks had a point to prove after recent poor showings, and were hard at the ball early. Encounter Bay, who have also had an inconsistent season, had a run of inside 50s but could not convert, going into quarter time with a slim lead, 1.5 to 1.1.
The Bays kicking woes continued in the second, but Myponga could not get a run on to make them pay. Barrett and Marshall were strong for the Bays, while Ogilvie continued his stellar form for the Mudlarks. At half time Bays led 3.9 to 2.2.
Encounter Bay began to build a buffer as the third quarter went on, with Marshall and Karpany doing all the damage up forward. Up three goals at the final break, they kicked another two to run Myponga out of the game. Final scores were 9.12 (66) to 4.9 (33).
