Probus reaches 25 years

Ph: 8555 0935.

Port of Goolwa Mixed Probus Club celebrated their 25th birthday on August 5. President Margaret Brinsley welcomed members, guests and Goolwa Rotary president Noeline Beirman, who presented the club with a 25th anniversary certificate.

Margaret called up long term members who were given a certificate by Noeline, then three life members - Rose Geisler, Win Powell and Shirley Keanes - cut the cake.

The group was entertained by the Sweatbeat Harmony. Sandy, Michelle, and Cheryl, who dressed in costumes similar to what the Andrew Sisters wore, kept members singing and tapping their feet to songs of yesteryear. As well as the Andrew Sisters they sang tunes from Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and other singers. They ended their luncheon with a slice of luscious cake decorated in native flora.

The next meeting is on Monday, September 2 at 10am in the garden room at Goolwa Hotel. Visitors welcome.

On Thursday, September 26 the club will host the three Probus Club of Goolwa annual lunch held at the South Lakes Golf Club.
