Nearly 100 guests braved the cold, wintry evening to attend the launch of this year's Port Elliot Show book at the Port Elliot Founders Pavilion on Friday August 9. The annual event marks the completion of this year's program for the Show which will be held on the weekend of Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13.
The show book which has been inserted into this week's Times, outlines the upcoming program along with all the information on entertainment, exhibits, entry forms along with other relevant information for the exciting event in October.
Vice President and Chair of the show book focus group, Patsy Greer paid tribute to her committee comprising of Sue Thomas, Jim Harding and Janet Ellis and acknowledged Secretary Gayle Garrett.
"They have worked extremely hard to produce this book which we are very proud of. I would also like to congratulate and thank the staff from the Times who worked tirelessly to present the showbook. They did an amazing job and our thanks go to them and to the Times for their continual support," she said.
President of the Southern Agricultural Society (Port Elliot show) Stephen Rogers addressed the audience and outlined the importance of the volunteers who work hard all year to maintain the existence of this annual event, especially the members of the management committee and conveners. He thanked the focus group for their extraordinary efforts in producing the show book. "A lot of work goes into this book and my congratulations to those who have been involved," he said.
A light supper was served during the evening whilst guests enjoyed the beautiful background music of two young students from local schools. Willem and Joshua Dunkley, two talented classical guitarists performed a range of music including Spanish and Mexican.
