Winter Bowls continues to be a challenge to members and friends at the Port Elliot Bowls Club. "Cold, wet and windy - will it be on or not? - Surely they will have to cancel!" But players, wrapped up with parkas and scarves have preferred to be out in the fresh air exercising with friends, rather than staying huddled up at home trying to keep warm. The games go on and people keep remarkably well through outdoor activity.

Monday Pairs: 1st game winners were Kevin Lewis and Gary Hancock. 2nd game winners Jim Gamble and Chris Monk. Overall winners were Wayne Reynolds and John Garvie.

Wednesday Scroungers had seven rinks in play, but the rain set in towards the end of the game. 12 ends had been played before the game was called off, though some players came off reluctantly. The Winner was Terry Hogg (37), r/up Eileen Love (33), and 3rd Brigitte Day (31).

Saturday Triples had good conditions. 1st game winners were Brigitte Day, Chris Jones and Trevor Wilson. (28+5)

2nd game winners were David Cammack, Mick Price and Wayne Reynolds (30+5). Overall winners were Brian Petherick, Ken Weeks and Ian Herron (60+27)

Ian and Eileen Love and Michael Wenman were presented with a '9' trophy for the outstanding achievement of scoring a 9' recently.

A Come and Try will be held on Friday 30 August, 10-12 noon and 1-3pm.

Soft shoes and sun hats (hopefully) required. Everyone welcome. Phone 0414 666 030.
