McLaren would have been hoping for an easy win when they travelled to Yankalilla, with a finals spot on the line.

The Tigers however, had other plans and in their final home match for the season, took it right up to McLaren who desperately needed a win to stay in fifth above Strathalbyn.

From the get-go, Yank came out hungry, looking to cause an upset. Laba, Gotch and Lee who were the Tiger's three best, produced trademark toughness for the home side and willed their team on. After a hard-fought first quarter, McLaren edged out the home side to lead 4.3 to 3.1.

By half time there was little separating the sides, McLaren still just clear 6.5 to 5.2.

James Grimley became the difference for the Eagles, continuing to kick truly, finishing with seven goals. By the final break McLaren opened up a two goal lead.

While Yankalilla never looked out of the game, some strong work up forward allowed McLaren to blow the margin out slightly in the final quarter to take the match 17.8 (110) to 14.3 (87).
