Goolwa, Victor Harbor and Encounter Bay bowling clubs crank up their seasons

On October 2, the Goolwa Bowling Club held the first of the famous triple 8s for the season, with more than 60 bowlers from Goolwa, Port Elliot, Victor Harbor and Spalding taking to the greens.

Winners for the day, on A green were Vic Butvila and Danny Fitzgerald with +15 shots, winners on B green were S.Williams and John Quin with +13 and winners on C green were Dennis Lloyd and Louis Dimitri with +21 shots. The Club may be able to accommodate another two to three more teams, so long as they are available every first and fourth Wednesday of the month. Contact: 8555 2545.

On Saturday, October 5, was a Social day. Winners were L.Jacquier, Rob Kaplan and Bruce Trenorden, from J.Barratt, J.Blok and Jim Hutton. Winners of the second game were Rick Morris, D.Edwards and Tony Siciliano. The Pennant season this week.

Victor Harbor Bowling Club held the second week of Thursday Super Triples. In first place was the team of Peter Ratcliffe, Wayne Reynolds and Mick Price, second were Gary Hancock, John Koch and Wayne Lynn.

The semi-finals and final of the club 100-up competition for men was decided on Friday. In the semis Ken Waller outlasted John Koch and Ian Fuller finally overcame Seby Consalvo. In the final, Ian got away to a good start on the first end, and although the match remained very even after this, Ken was not able to bridge the gap and Ian was declared the winner.

Last Saturday was the final hit out for Pennant competitions for the upcoming season with Victor 'Sea Eagles' up against Encounter Bay. Across all grades Victor, on 313 shots, defeated Encounter Bay on 245 shots.

Meanwhile, Thursday Ladies Pennant starts on October 17 and players have already had several practices to be cherry-ripe for the beginning of the season.

Friday night teas start at the club. Night Owls starts with registration on Wednesday, October 16. Any new players or teams would be welcome. Ring the club on 8552 1380.
