Alexandrina Council's General Manager Environment, Simon Grenfell has been appointed as the Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority's (FRWA) new Executive Officer.
Mr Grenfell, who is a former board member of the Authority, will commence the role in January 2020 and was selected following a recruitment process "that attracted an extremely high calibre of applicants," according to FRWA Chairman Michael Kelledy.
"The Authority is dedicated to the recognition of waste as a resource and the evolution of the circular economy," said Mr Kelledy.
"Simon's commitment to these values together with his knowledge of the Authority, of the waste industry generally and his passion for the role, will further assist the Authority in the achievement of its goals and the maintenance of high levels of community service.
"The Board is looking forward to working with Simon to further evolve the Authority, its commitments and its strategic development over the next decade of its existence."
Mr Grenfell said he was looking forward to taking on the role.
"I'm very excited to have the opportunity to lead the Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority into the next phase of its development and to assist the Fleurieu Community harness the opportunities that waste management and the circular economy present," he said.
Mr Grenfell's appointment comes following the recent resignation of Marina Wagner, who served as Executive Officer of the Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority for nine years.
