It was not your normal game of croquet at the Victor Harbor Croquet Club on Friday, November 8. The club had 14 visitors from the United Kingdom playing on their greens in a friendly tournament.
The Victor Harbor Croquet Club is located on Bridge Terrace and was more than happy to host the group from overseas. The 14 visitors from the United Kingdom are on a touring holiday and being welcomed all around the state.
The busy schedule included competitions at Norwood, Hyde Park, Glenunga, Brighton, Kangaroo Island and of course Victor Harbor. The representatives from the United Kingdom enjoyed the camaraderie and welcoming they had received at all the clubs they visited.
"It is the most enjoyable way to see and meet people in South Australia and we will enjoy hosting clubs from here when they wish to make a visit to us," the spokesperson said. A Victor Harbor Croquet Club spokesperson said it was hoped the return match will occur in 2021.
"A trip to the UK will be exciting and croquet is a great way to build relations with like minded people from overseas," the spokesperson said.
After the friendly competition, representatives from the UK and Victor Harbor Croquet Club enjoyed refreshments and afternoon tea at the seaside club. "Victor Harbor was chosen by us because we love this area," the UK spokesperson said.
