Number plates stolen from across Fleurieu Peninsula, Adelaide Hills districts

Six separate reports of number plate thefts from the Fleurieu and Hills districts this month has prompted a community warning from police.

Vehicle and trailer number plates have been reported stolen from Port Elliot, Goolwa Beach, Clayton Bay, Birdwood, Meadows and Crafers since November 1.

Hills Fleurieu police said theft of number plates can further additional crimes like petrol theft.

"This crime, which can cause great inconvenience to the victim, can be easily prevented through the use of tamper proof screws," police said in a statement.
