Encounter Lutheran College has a new backyard.
Encounter has successfully negotiated the purchase of 69 acres of land, directly to the north of their existing property, bordering Adelaide and Waterport Roads and extending to the main roundabout into Victor Harbor.
This parcel of land will ensure that Encounter will be able to create more spaces, opportunities and experiences for students by engaging with the natural environment in a myriad of ways.
Encounter Lutheran College Principal Kelvin Grivell said it was the greatest acquisition the College could have dreamed of.
"It will build a greater appreciation, awareness, and wellbeing in our students, as well as finding new ways to connect with our broader community," Mr Grivell said..
"Encounter's staff, students and families are thrilled by this news. We will invite their input through various means, one of which will be a camp on the property next winter to sit in the space and dream together over a campfire.
"The possibilities are limitless in terms of creating a nature reserve to promote sustainability, developing spaces for nature play, building experiences to grow risk and resilience, a walking and bike trail and broadening our access to the curriculum and also to future careers pathways."
Mr Grivell said the college looked forward to connecting with local and national experts and partners to enhance the space and invite many community members onto the site
