Port Elliot Surf Lifesaving Club hits the surf for a brand new summer season

The first beach carnival of the year was held in increasingly cold conditions at Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club.

The Port Elliot Surf Life Saving Club had eight competitors ranging from youth (14) to Masters. Skye Jucius comprehensively won both of her heats in the sprints. All other competitors finished strongly in all their sprints. The teams in the open and youth relays ran competitively. Dave Palmer finished 3rd and 4th in his two open heats.

The Flags event finished the night, with Zach Palmer and Maddie Cannell both taking 3rd places in U15 boys/girls events. Finn Porteous performed well in his first senior carnival.

The second part of the senior carnival was held at Christies Beach on the Saturday. PESLSC was represented with eight very keen competitors. Piper Hudson started the day with a win in the U17 2km beach run, and came second overall in the women's events. Cayden Byerlee and Finn Porteous finished in the top three in their races.

Board races followed with Maddie Cannell and Finn Porteous finishing inside the top 10 in their events. A girls board really team of Skye Jucius, Alexandra Fuller and Maddie Cannell paddled strongly in their heat.

Cayden Byerlee and Jobe Hendriks competed in the open men's board race and surf race swim and Georgina Tenney took on the Open Women's surf race. Finn Porteous then finished midfield in the Youth iron person to complete the day.
