The Granite Community Band will again host the 2019 Victor Harbor Carols by Candlelight, to be held in the Victor Harbor Town Hall on Thursday, December 19. Doors open at 6.30pm with Carols from 7pm to approximately 8.30pm.
The band will be led by conductor Guy Mansbridge, who has been running the band through many old favourite Christmas tunes, plus a host of new ones. Supporting the band will be 18 Carol singers, led by the Christmas co-ordinator Serenity Ogilvie. This is her seventh Christmas season with the band and she has planned a program that will present the audience with an interesting variety of group and individual items.
Santa will visit and collect presents for the Salvation Army Hampers for Local Families program. So please bring along a small gift of any unwrapped item (new or good condition) or non-perishable food to donate.
Entry is free, although you can support the event with a donation of $3, which will get you an electric candle and a lyric sheet. You can bring a blanket and sit down the front or use the chairs available. Popcorn, drinks, tea and coffee will be available from the canteen and a kids drawing wall will help keep the little artists amused.
"This is a great family event, a major item on the Victor Harbor Christmas calendar and an important collection event for the Salvation Army. It would be great to see the Victor Harbor community come and support it," Serenity Ogilvie said.
