Myponga Bowling Club will hold its Patron's Day on Monday, December 16 and already there are 24 teams, which makes it a full event.
The club offers a great night out every Wednesday from 6pm with its very popular Night Owls. The club will provide the bowls and you can play bare foot or in flat soled shoes. The cost is only $13 and that includes a night of bowling and good fellowship, two course meal and door prizes. All you have to do is roll up on the night.
In a competitive evening at Night Owls, there were only two 3-game winners. McCracken Maulers were in form and edged out 'Odd Balls' into second place by 3 shots over the three games.
Thursday's Ladies Pennant Div 1 were home to Encounter Bay and gained a 12 point victory, with wins to the rinks of Sue Wilkins and Shirley Koch. Div 2 travelled to Milang and suffered a disappointing loss. Div 3 had a battle with Yankalilla Black at home with Di Hoppo getting over the line by 1 shot and Jan Pippos losing by a few.
The weather was kind to the Super Triples sponsored by Simplicity Funerals. Convincing winners were Kevin Hoppo, Craig Jacobs and Greg Middleton. Second were John Brown, Ken Waller and Bob Vowles with Chopper Speed, Brian Shepherd and Peter Faull finishing third. WOL went to Geoff Dohse, Richard Souter and Stu Taylor. The clubhouse erupted when Max Davies, Nik Pippos and Eric Secomb achieved the SEAL award in a fair draw.
Players dressed up for the Lady's Christmas Triples sponsored by Specsavers and Coastal Habitat. Winners were Bronwen Mullen, Oksana Elf and Sandra Nash (VH) with second place going to Karen Kneebone, Anne-Marie Kuchel and Brenda Clark (Murray Bridge RSL & VH). Best first game winners were Joy Fuller, Meredith Reid and June Wass (VH) and second game winners were Joyce Roast, Greta Whitcomb and Mavis Bond (Woodville).
In Saturday's Pennants, Div 1 Blue played Willunga at home. Solid wins followed from Ernie Elf up by 4, Len Basford up by 2 and Peter O'Sullivan up by 1 shot. Div 1 White were home to McLaren Vale and were looking good to start, but went down by 17. Div 2 struggled against Encounter Bay, going down by 12. Div 3 travelled to Strathalbyn and also suffered a firm loss. Div 5 took a 14 shot win, with all rinks up, away to Clarendon.
Saturday Social Bowls is going along nicely and any pennant player who misses being selected is encouraged to join the group. Ring the club on 85521380 between 9 and 10 Saturday morning if you are looking for a game.
The Bay 1000 competition was sponsored by PhysioXtra and winners of Div 1 were Eldorado - Charlie Norman, Will Hayles and Marlene Richman on 57 plus 13. Second were the 3 Amigos - Wally Humphrys, Frank Bayley and Garry Elks and third were Nick Pirros, Tony Forshaw and Greg Middleton. WOL were the Trifecta - Graham Taylor, Any Seymour and Ian Herron.
Winners of Div 2 were Triple Time - Gaynor Staak Mary Jarvis and Anne Calvert on 58 plus 27. Second were Kevin Fuller, Ian Riches and Sue Riches and third were the 3 Jacks - Roger Watt Don Best and Darryl Carr. WOL were Joy Reachers - Bob and Nancy May and Gerry Malone on 52 plus 11.
Men's Monthly Pairs were sponsored by Sportspower and winners were Bruce Williams and Jan Bakker on 59 plus 34. Overall second were David Amber and Mario Bimbi with 58 plus 23. Winners of the second game were Wally Humphrys and Merv Fisher on 32 plus 18 and winners of the first game were G Dohse and Alan Des Fontaines on 29 plus 16.
Toop Motors/ RAA Night Owls Competition had a perfect night and the rink of the week was Copper Coasters with 33 plus 17. The Lakers top the table in Div 1 with 180 points, Night on the Green are second on 147. In Div 2, Whalers are top with 205 and Incredibowls are second on 159. Mooonlighters lead Div 3 on 161.
Congratulations to Kathy Clarke, Stephanie Clarke, Anne Webber and Ros Male Champion 4's for 2019. Ladies Thursday Pennants were a mixed bag. Div2 defeated Langhorne Creek convincingly 77-36 and all rinks had good wins, Heather Cochrane and team 25-13, Jean Jackson's team 31-9 and Helen Colligan's team with 21-14. Div 1 unfortunately had a hard fought loss against Victor Harbor 48-60.
Winners of Bay 3s Social Bowls sponsored by Northpoint Fleurieu with 32+12 were Peter Willson, Robert Alsop and Michael Everett. Roger Watt and John Dodman were the winners of Saturday Social Bowls on 32 plus 20. Second were Peter Willson, John Guy and Pam Fuller. In Saturday's Open Gender Pennants, Div 1 lost to Pt Elliott 45-75. Div 2 Blue also had a loss 41-60 to Goolwa Black. Div 2 Gold had a good win over Victor Harbor 60-48. Kathy Clarke, Garry Elks, Jan Bakker and Gaynor Staak scored an impressive 23-10. Div 4 defeated Goolwa 57-52 and Div 5 also won, defeating Langhorne Creek 79-55.
Women's monthly RAA Super Pairs First Game winners were Joan Hammett/Pam Brown (VH). Second game winners were PEBC's Meredith Koch/Irene Hurren. Overall R/up Goolwa's Denise Amos/Joyce Dean. Overall Winners: Goolwa's Barbara Reed/Jody Kragulac.
At Thursday Pennants, all teams were at home. Div 1 Played a winning game vs Willunga, scoring 77-44 and 12 points and now hold 2nd position on the ladder. J. Lind 22-13, A.Faull 21-15, H.Taylor 34-16. Div 2. Also played a good game vs Aldinga Bay, winning 68-46. Two teams had good wins, L.Fox 26-8 and J.Cruise 25-18. H. Edwards team travelled well until end 18, but then let the opponents in and went down 3 shots 17-20. The side earned 10 points and is also 2nd on the ladder. Div 3 played McLaren Vale winning 46-40 and earning 8 points. Chris Brindal, a good lead turned skipper led her team to victory 26-19. Irene Hurren down one shot 20-21.
Finalists in the Ladies Singles Championship Jan Lind and Lyn Mole, had supporters holding their breath as they played a final game worthy of champs. Lyn, in good form, soon had 10 shots on the scorecard. Jan took her time, started late, but quickly caught up and the game was end to end from then on. Going into the last end, Lyn was one shot ahead. It looked as though the dye was cast - but Jan never says 'dye' got 3 shots and won the game and championship 26-24.
Spectators gathered to watch the Men's 4's championship played between two very skillful teams expected an outstanding performance and were not disappointed. Chris Monk, Phil Hollow, Wayne Reynolds, Jim Gamble vs Terry Hogg, Jim Schofield, Ron Lind, John Deal played great bowls, and the Monk team emerged the winners and champions.
In Saturday Pennants, Div 1 enjoyed a good win (75-45) C. Monk 25-21, I. McLeod 23-14, P. Hollow 27-10. Div 2 lost to Milang 64-74. Div 3 had a strong win away to Aldinga Bay White, E.Taylor 31-14, Michael Schuman 35-15, Anthea Faull 24-10 and an overall score 100-39. Div 4 suffered a loss of 55-73 to Yankalilla. Div 5 enjoyed some nail biting action at Myponga, but went down 50-60. Div 6 also lost to Goolwa White 43-61.

Annual Ham & Turkey Day, sponsored by Goolwa Central Meats was held on December 2, with 38 teams from around the state taking part. Competition was hot and by all reports, everyone had a great time with lovely lunch and wines being catered by Lorraine Trenorden and her team of willing helpers. Winners (again) were Victor Harbor's B.Vowles, K.Lewis, F.Kelly and M.Hendricks who took home a full leg ham each. Second were R.Munn, N.Hewitt, C.Jacobs and B.Nash (VH), taking a half leg ham each.
Wednesday's popular Triple 8's day sponsored by Below Zero had 34 teams competing. Winners on A Green were Bob Green and D.Krebbekx with +24. On B Green it was Mick Price and Peter Ratcliffe with +24 and on C Green, Warwick Smith and Byron Carr with +15.
In Thursday's pennants, Div 1 managed to score 10 points away at Yankalilla. Div 2 lost to Myponga, while Div 3 hosted Yankalilla for 10 points. In Saturday's pennants, Div 1 and 2 succeeded among some poor results, with the exception of Div 6 White who did equally well. Div 1 hosted Strathalbyn keeping all 12 points. Div 2 Black took maximum points against Encounter Bay, while Div 2 White lost to Langhorne Creek. Div 3 travelled to Myponga for zero points, Div 4 also lost to Encounter Bay, as did Div 6 Black to Yankalilla. Div 6 White hosted Port Elliot holding onto 10 points. Next Saturday is the last pennant match before the Christmas break.
Saturday's Social (open) day was a single entry drawn pairs day, with the winning team being the pairing of John Blok and Betty Dutton, with R/U being B. and T. Whitehorn. Winners of the second game were, Maggie Sharplin and D.Edwards.
