Sailing is a terrific sport for kids.

With a range of different youth double-handed and single handed dinghies available, it is accessible to kids of all sizes and abilities.

Sailing can be just for recreation, or kids can choose to join one of a number of classes for competitive racing at local, state, national or international level.

Learning to sail can be great for boosting self-confidence; for some kids there's simply nothing like being able to skipper your own boat.

Goolwa Aquatic Club's sailing group is once again running Learn-to-Sail classes aimed at kids in the 8 to 14 year age range during the January 2020 school holidays.

The calm and protected waters of the Murray River at Goolwa are simply an ideal place for kids to learn sailing skills they'll keep for life.

Courses are conducted over one week; each course comprises four 3-hour sessions (morning or afternoon) from Monday to Thursday.

Lessons are conducted by an Australian Sailing qualified instructor, using modern Pacer class dinghies, which are large enough to enable kids to be accompanied by experienced sailors initially and as required.

At this stage the first scheduled week is fully booked, but vacancies remain for both morning and afternoon courses for the second week of January 13 to 16.
