At its Sunday, January 12 market, the Victor Beachside Market stallholders formed a united front and raised $1005 for the CFS Foundation Fund.
The money was raised through raffles and donations initiated by the stallholders to support the firefighting efforts of the CFS. Beachside Market managers Robert and Janet Cawood said it was "magnificent to see" all the stallholders rally together for the CFS.
"The money will go to the Hindmarsh Valley CFS and I would like to thank the stallholders of our market and the public who have been so generous," Mr Cawood said.
"The motivator for us to do this was Melissa Henderson. Melissa and her Mother Carmen Guinan and Molly Stevens sold raffle tickets and second hand donated goods at the market with the proceeds going to the CFS."
Town Crier Mike Willett added to the atmosphere of the market and drummed up donations and Michel Saada from the Hindmarsh Valley CFS was in attendance to encourage sales and donations. The raffle was drawn at 3pm by City of Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins.
Fleurieu CFS brigades have fought the many fires around the country over the past month, including Kangaroo Island.
"It was fantastic to see everyone working as a team and some stallholders donated sales from the day. In a time of crisis it is great to see people come together," Mr Cawood said.
The Victor Beachside Market will hold another event to raise funds for bushfire victims on Sunday, January 26.
