Come on out to Walking Hockey at Goolwa.

With a registration evening held on February 3, the Goolwa Hockey Club will launch the first Walking Hockey competition in South Australia.

It will be titled the Bendigo Bank Goolwa Hockey Club Walking Hockey Competition.

You can register a team of five people or just yourself and the club place you into a team.

Walking Hockey is a modified version of Field Hockey.

It comprises of a quarter sized pitch, five players a side, pushing only, no big hits or big swings, no lifted balls, no Goal Keepers and of course no running.

With no running, the emphasis is on team work and stick skill, meaning that it is easier for people to enjoy and get into the great game of hockey.

This will be launched as a social get together to begin with, then working on becoming a social competition.

Goolwa Hockey Club will be hosting this at the Goolwa Recreation Ground on Monday evenings from 6pm during the school term.

It is an exciting concept to attract people to the game.

Hockey is a skillful sport where activity is promoted and at the Goolwa Hockey Club it is a family friendly environment where many friends can be made.

It is the beauty about being involved in a sport.

The Goolwa Hockey Club competes during the Winter season in the South Coast Hockey Association.
