Port Elliot Bowls
Wednesday SuperPairs was cancelled so that members could attend the funeral of respected member Brian Petherick.
Two minutes silence was held at pennant games this week in remembrance of Brian and also Life member Geoffrey Appelbee both of whom have passed in the last month.
Individually these two men were dedicated and innovative members who contributed significantly to the day to day running and maintenance of the club. They will be sorely missed.
Thursday Pennants: Div 1 players were disappointed in their game at Goolwa where they were defeated by the home team 93-31. Div 2 also at Goolwa had a good game winning (79-50).
All three teams were successful, earning 12 points (J.Cruise 27-20, L.Fox 19-14, H.. Edwards 33-16). PEBC currently holds equal 1st position with Victor Harbor.
Div 3 played a home game versus Yankalilla, and won 45-32 - and with three games to go are 4th on the ladde. (I.Hurren 17-20, Chris Brindal 28-12).
Saturday Pennants: Div 1 were away v Victors Harbor with disappointing overall result (42-69). Terry Hogg's team won (20-18) earning the side 2 points. Div 2 had a good win at home v Willunga (62-48).
Two team wins, M. Price 30-7, C. Jones 16-13 and one down ( R. Wattison 16-28) 10 points added to season score and currently 1st position on the ladder.
Div 3 also at home playing Strathalbyn had an overall win 63-51. With two team wins, E, Taylor 25-11, A.Faull 23-14 and one loss, M. Schumacher 15-26, ten points were earned.
Div 4 at home v McLaren Vale Blue and anxious to make a move up the ladder, played hard to bring about a good win, and with all three rinks winning, achieved that goal! (78-36).
12 points earned. Div 5 played an away game against current top of the ladder, Strathalbyn. The side played hard, but lost overall by 3 shots. 56-59. 2 points earned and Div 5 retains 10th position.
Div 6, doing very well at the moment, won their game at Aldinga Bay by just 4 shots.
Two teams down, T. Gunnell 12-18/A.Yorke 12-16 were covered by a good score by H. Edwards team (23-9) and the side won 47-43.

On Monday, Janaury 27 it will be the Aussie Day Lunch and Game commencing at 12 noon and this event is open to public.
On April 6 and 7 it will be the two day Easter Carnival - Mufti.

Saturday pennants situation remains mixed at best, with some odd results. Division 1 had a chance to get themselves back in the "hunt" playing at home against Willunga, but unfortunately could not come up with a single point.
Div.2 Black did considerably better, travelling to Milang and coming home with 9 points. Div.2 White away at Encounter Bay Gold only getting home with 2 points, thanks to R.Spaan rink.
Div.3 hosted McLaren Vale holding on to 8 points. Div.4 had a long and difficult trip to Clarendon managing to bring home very valuable 10 points.
Div.6 Black played Strathalbyn gaining maximum points and Div.6 White hosted Aldinga Bay Blue holding on to 8 points.
Ladies Thursday 1st Division side appears to be coasting, this week taking on Victor Harbor at home and gaining maximum points.
Div.2 hosted Port Elliot at home, unfortunately no points this week. Div.3 played McLaren Vale Gold and did considerably better gaining 10 points.
Saturday Social (Open) day was a "single entry day" drawn Triples with the winning team being D.Krebbekx, D.Edwards and G.Cowling.
Runner up were H.Ward, Pat Willats and G.McCracken. Winners of the second game were J.Bakerville, J.Blok and G.Brown.
Victor Harbor Bowls
The final of the club mixed pairs has been decided. For the second year in a row the Speeds overcame the Sellars to be the champions for 2019-20.
Val and Ian had some good wins along the way, but Annette and Brenton were just too good on the day. Congratulations to both pairs.
It was good to see the 'Aardvarks' come through for a win at Night Owls last week. In a close contest, 'Shafted' were second and 'Summer Rollers' third with all 3 teams on the same points but the result decided on shots up.
Thursday Ladies Pennant - Div 1 played McLaren Vale at home and secured 10 points with excellent wins to Shirley Koch and Lyn Thatcher and a narrow loss to Sue Wilkins.
Div 2 were away to Myponga and lost by 3 shots despite solid wins to Helen Anderson and Val Secomb. Div 3 were at home to Aldinga Bay and had a 5 shot win courtesy of a great win to Di Hoppo.
Div 1 and 2 are currently second on the premiership table.
Super Triples - The bushranging trio of Graham Wilson, Nigel Hewitt and Rob Kaplan thought they had it in the bag with 58+42, but they were pipped by one point when Chopper Speed, Brian Shepherd and Peter Faull scored 59+33.
Third place went to Peter Manuel, Vic Lewicki and Ken Weeks, whilst the WOL were Allan Parkyn, Danny Wreford and Alan Haberfield.
Saturday Pennant - It was another mixed bag for Victor 'Sea Eagles'. Div 1 Blue away to Yankalilla suffered a 13 shot loss with only Ernie Elf's rink up on the day.
Div 1 White were home to Port Elliot and were pleased with their 27 shot win with Nik Pippos' rink outstanding, a good win to Lyn Thatcher and a narrow loss to Dale Speck.
Div 2 played Langhorne Creek at home and came up with a tied game. Wins to Stu Taylor and Gary Hancock covered the loss to Ian Fuller and a valuable 7 points.
Div 3 were again competitive against Aldinga away, but still haven't broken through for that much needed win.
Div 5 travelled to Milang and recorded a 6 shot win with Leith Davies up, a draw to Craig Jacobs and a narrow loss to John Florance. Coming into the pointy end of the season only Div 1 Blue and Div 5 are in the four.
A reminder that social bowls continues on Saturday afternoons and is a great opportunity for anyone, including pennant players, to get valuable practice.
Encounter Bay Bowls

Winners Saturday Social Bowls - Charlie Norman, Les Gilbert and Daryl Carr.
The Presidents Open Fours winners of the first game were Roger Wattison,G Mellor, Merv and Connie McArdle from Port Elliott with 311/2 plus 15 and the winners of the 2nd game were Kenny Weeks, John Garvie, Graham Trenery and David Camac with 301/2 plus 10 also from Pt Elliot.
First overall were the team of Ian Herron, Don Gifford, Peter and Joy Caldicott also from Pt Elliot, 2nd was a team from Strathalbyn - Barry and Lorraine Blucher, John and Christine Dawkins.
The first Bay 1000 for 2020 and overall winners in Div 1 were The Trifectas - Ian Herron, Andy Seymour and Graham Taylor, 2nd were the Brown Ants - Al Detpey, Mick Dodds and John Blok.
WOL were Dreamin - Trevor Isaacson,Tony Brookson and Peter Maunder. The overall winners in Div 2 were The 3 of Us - Dorothy and Ted Colquhoun and Peter Pibworth. WOL were 2 TRB - Ian Warner, Ros and Kev Male.
The 10th round of Night Owls was played and Rink of the week was the team SCOTCH ON THE ROCKS.

Ladies Thursday Pennants - Div 1 defeated Willunga 75-40 gaining 10 points They are now 3rd on the table. Div 2 defeated Aldinga Bay 64-56 also gaining 10 points. Heather Cochrane's and Dot Birt's teams had good wins.
Thursday Bay 3's were won by the pair of Colin Sweeney and Paul Sunman.
Saturday Pennant results - Div 1 had a disappointing day going down to McLaren Vale 48-64. Geoff Berg and his team had a very close game but unfortunately couldn't quite beat their opposition
Div 2 Blue played McLaren Vale 57-70, gaining 1 point for Paul Sparre's team draw. Grant Wilson's team had a close game- up at the break, but went down by a small margin in the end.
Div 2 Gold had a pleasing win over Goolwa White 54-40 at home gaining 10 pts. Div 4 had a draw with McLaren Vale at McLaren Vale 55-55 gaining 5 points. They are now 3rd on the table.
Div 5 had a pleasing win over McLaren Vale 71-51 gaining 10 pts which puts them 2nd on the table
