Alexandrina Council services are being minimised over safety concerns due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As part of Alexandrina Council's response to the Covid-19 pandemic at a regional level, services are being minimised to ensure the safety of residents across the Fleurieu.

A council spokesperson said the organisation's top priority was the health and safety of the community, volunteers and staff.

"With this in mind, we have made the difficult decision to suspend a number of council services, programs and events," said the spokesperson.

"These decisions have been made to minimise the risk of community transmission. It is important to note that this is a rapidly emerging situation, decisions about impacts to council services will continue to be made over the coming days, weeks and months in a staged, risk-based approach."

As part of this response, all council organised events, or those requiring volunteer support will be cancelled.

Council offices in Goolwa and Strathalbyn will be closed to the public, but customer support will be available via phone: 8555 7000 and email: during normal business hours.

The Fleurieu Aquatic Centre and Strathalbyn Pool will remain closed until further notice, and the Goolwa and Strathalbyn Libraries will also be closed to the public.

Overdue and billing notices will be stopped until at least the end of April and South Australia's Digital Library is always open via:

The Milang and Port Elliot Library Depots will be closed during this period and JP services at Goolwa (serviced by volunteers) will no longer be available.

Likewise, the Goolwa and Strathalbyn Visitor Information Centres have been closed, but assistance can be obtained by contacting staff via:1300 466 592, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

Services being maintained include Community Safety Services and Compliance/Field Services and CMWS and Waste Collection and Management, which will continue as business as usual.

Council/Committee Meetings/Briefings, will also continue, but at a 'business as needed' basis.
